I'm glad he let us know ahead of time. I wasn't looking forward to having to study for it.

I would not believe him. He told us the same when he taught our class, yet most of us passed...ok, at least some of us passed...ok, at least some of us recognized that remedies was an issue and we should at least write something on it... -- An 05 SW grad...still looking for a job, like the rest of my classmates...

Well there is his bar prep course, Paul. I'm sure that will save us all from failing the bar.

And thanks for brightening my outlook on my future Anonymous.

Wait, did he finish the sentence?
"....if you take my course."

Of course not. But it's the inference he leads us to draw seeing he knows what we all should know but don't, something he likes to point out at least once every class.

I wouldn't take his bar review course if he paid me to take it. That man couldnt teach me my ABC's let alone prepare me for the Bar.

Bar... what's that???

The man CAN SO prepare me (and you!) for the bar...as in so many other areas of life where an irritant is a message, Schmitty points out just how much we did NOT learn at SW, stuff that WILL be on the bar and therefore should have been included for our $30 thou per year at SW. Get past his grouchy aspects; how will you react to a grouchy supervising partner, or grouchy judge? -- the same 05 SW grad from above...

Re Wayne's outlook on the future... it is not pre-ordained, just trying to make it more realistic. Despite SW's painting of a rosy picture, a third tier grad, not in the top 30 percent, does not have many doors open to him/her. OCIP is for the top 30 percent at most, usually top 10 percent. Being willing/eager to hustle after a job, and take whatever we can find is a third tier jd's lot.

Instead of entering law school when we did, it probably would have been better to keep studying and practicing the LSAT for another year, to score 170 or higher and go to a top-20 law school. Ahh, hindsight...

if he doesnt give enough of a shit to teach me remedies, how am i supposed to trust him to prepare me for the bar. if he was grouchy and a good professor, that's one thing, but he's grouchy and doesn't give a shit. i'll take my chances with bar/bri. and if you are an 05 grad, how do you know that most of you passed? you won't know until November

hey, cant we have some postive vibes here? I am hoping (thats a big understatement) that most of us passed. I am sure some of us passed. -- the 05 grad from above

Oh, I hope you passed too...in fact I hope every SW grad passed. I'm just saying I don't trust Schmitt to prepare me for the bar since he can't even prepare me for my remedies final. But from the bottom of my heart, I hope you (and all other SW alum) passed with flying colors.

Y'know, to give him the benefit of a HUGE doubt, maybe he's doing some zen "teaching us to teach ourselves" crap to the point that we could learn the theory of relativity while living in a cave, or, THEORETICALLY, learn all the material on the bar without having a competent remedies professor. But even with such noble motives, I'd rather just take the course that's on my schedule, have the teachers teach and the learners learn-- I think the rest of my life already offers enough character-building (in the Calvin & Hobbes sense of 'character-building') exercises.
