Maybe SWLAW did get the memo and should really rank among the fourth tier schools.

Now tell me how Ken Starr makes the students any smarter or Pepperdine into a better law school.
Increased fundraising? The connections? The notoriety he brings? I don't know.
My theory is that Pepp gets a higher ranking simply because people outside of the legal community have heard of it as opposed to SW which noone in the general community seems to know.
It's people within the legal community behind this thing (don't they survey judges or something) but I think its still a subtle factor. Pepp's library is crap, their facilities aren't that great and they don't have top notch faculty. They don't suck, but they're on par with SW. Too bad the rankings don't say that...
