Yup, that phrase was directed at me more than once at
PABA's Annual Merienda, which I attended yesterday. A typical exchange between me and board members:
Board Member: When you're a lawyer, you're friends and family will hate you because you won't have any time for them.
Me: They already hate me.
Board Member: Well then your friends, family, and your dog will hate you.
Me: I hate dogs.
Board Member: You don't like dogs?
Me: I was kidding. I love dogs. They taste great.
Bad filipino jokes were the norm for me. As well as shit talking about Loyola since more than half the board was from there. Yeah... I represented well.
