Not That I Have A Chance In Hell

But I'll give it the ol' college try anyway.
August 20, 2004

Dear Continuing Southwestern Student,

Tryouts for the Interscholastic Trial Advocacy Honors Program (ITAP) will be held at the beginning of the school year. If you intend to try out, please note the following dates and times and qualifications:

Tryouts are open to all continuing students who are in good academic standing and are either enrolled in or have completed Evidence. Moot Court members are not eligible for ITAP. Please see the Southwestern Student Handbook for additional information.

If you have interest in competing in the tryouts this fall, you must attend a mandatory informational meeting. This meeting will be held on Monday, August 30, at 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in room BW 370 of the Bullocks Wilshire Building.

A problem will be distributed during this meeting. The problem is a closed-universe problem. However, some helpful materials on trial advocacy will be included in your packet to assist you in your tryouts.

The sign-up sheet for the tryouts will be distributed at the informational meeting. Competitors must sign up for a competition time in order to try out.

The selection process will consist of two rounds of mock trial setting and a final interview. After Round 1, a list will be posted of those invited to compete in Round 2. Finalists chosen from Round 2 will be invited to interview for a position on the team.

Round 1 of the tryouts will be held on September 7, 8 and 9 (Tuesday-Thursday)
Round 2 of the tryouts will be held on September 20, 21 and 22 (Monday-Wednesday)
Interviews will be held for finalists on September 28, 29 and 30 (Tuesday-Thursday)

If you intend to compete, please note the dates above for calendaring purposes. Please contact the ITAP office if you have any questions. We are located in the Westmoreland Building, Room W238, and can be reached at (213) 738-6848. You can also contact Seth Mitchell via email at seth_mitchell@hotmail.com

Thank you very much and we look forward to seeing you when school begins!

Good Luck,
The 2004-2005 ITAP Board
